A message from our Sherington Poet Laureate

As Christmas Approaches

As Christmas approaches,
All traditions and cheer,
We’re all edging closer
To the end of the year.

The crunching of snow,
The chill winter air.
Cards to exchange and
Bright gifts to share.

Decorating trees,
Hanging up lights;
Meals with family
And much longer nights.

Waking up to the
Sound of bells ringing,
Wrapping up warm –
With carollers singing.

Coming in from the cold,
Defrosting of toes.
Drinking piping hot chocolate
And blowing your nose.

The countdown to Christmas
And warm gingerbread.
I cannot help thinking
Of the new year ahead.
