This week is Science Week and the national theme this year is ‘Journeys.’ We have decided to explore ‘The journey of a plastic bottle’ at Sherington, following on from Blue Planet last year. Science week has an environmental focus this year and the children have been encouraged to think about what that they would like to find out and investigate, around plastic pollution. The children were introduced to the theme in a hook assembly which required them to share their knowledge about recycling, and some sorted items into recyclable and non-recyclable groups. This week is a busy and exciting week for all classes as classes will: carry out practical investigation/experiments, attend science trips, complete reading and writing tasks based on plastic pollution, and they will complete artwork to be displayed in The Creation Station. Children will then share their learning with their buddy groups on Friday and will spend some time observing and viewing the artwork in The Creation Station together.
