British Science Week 2021

Today sees the start of an exciting week at Sherington and indeed across schools in the UK, as we celebrate Science Week. It is also wonderful that it coincides with a whole-school return. The theme for Science Week this year is: Innovating for the future. It is an incredibly fitting choice given the unprecedented times many of us have been living in throughout much of the past year. Science is all about innovation and working to create a better future for all. The opportunity to use our creativity to solve problems is something we should all aspire to.

Over the course of the week, the children will research and explore an invention and inventor from the past, following its journey and evolvement to the present day. They will do this through experiential learning, such as with practical investigation, as well as cross-curricular opportunities in humanities and English lessons. The week will culminate with a Dragons’ Den activity, in which children will pitch their own inventions for the future in front of a panel of dragons. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal who they are just yet but stay posted as all shall be revealed on Friday.

The week promises to be an exciting one, even more so now with pupils back in school!
