World Book Day 2020

Staff and pupils of Sherington celebrated another fantastic World Book Day. We have seen some incredible costumes based on our book this year: Return by Aaron Becker. With costumes ranging from submarines to rainbows, cavemen to Viking long ships, the school was awash with imagination and colour. Alongside celebratory assemblies, the children took part in an oral retelling of the story, as well as completing an imaginative writing task.

We know reading is so important and it’s great to celebrate a day that promotes our love of books – something that we believe is so important and part of our every day life. This is what our children had to say:

“I loved the fact that the story had no words as it meant I could let my imagination and creativity run free.” – Year 3 child

“There was so much to look at on each page. Every time we looked at the book, I noticed something different.” – Year 4 child

“I love World Book Day as every year we have a different book and I like to be challenged.” – Year 6 child
